Healthy Ageing: Development of a participatory research program for healthy aging in cities
Healthy ageing and health care for older people in cities are important challenges for the future. Thus, the aim of this project is to develop a research program on healthy ageing in cities from the perspective of older citizens.
To this end, five living environment areas in Berlin (LOR-Planungsräume) were determined. Older citizens from these living environments can actively make their contributions in a two step process and propose topics from their point of view for research in healthy aging via interviews and workshops.

Integrated Care for Older Adults Living in Urban Areas – Assessing Health and Social Care Needs (completed)
In this project, researchers from Singapore and Berlin are addressing the challenges of demographic change and urbanization for the future of healthcare. Multimorbidity with concurrent psychosocial problems requires community-oriented and interprofessional concepts. The focus of this project is therefore on the assessment of medical and social needs of older people as a basis for healthcare planning. To do this, we will adapt and apply an instrument for needs assessment that has already been tested in Singapore to the context of Berlin.
The project has three main objectives:
1. We aim to bring together and network researchers from Berlin and Singapore who are interested in the care of older people across health systems and cultural boundaries.
2. We aim to address methodological challenges in comparing data from different health systems.
3. We aim to strengthen the cross-border translation of healthcare research into health policy.

Healthy Aging: Development of a Participatory Research Program for Healthy Aging in the City
Healthy aging and healthcare for older people in the city are important challenges for the future. The aim of this project is to develop a research program on healthy aging in the urban context from the perspective of older citizens.
To achieve this, older citizens in five LOR planning areas in Berlin are given the opportunity to actively participate and propose which topics should be researched from their perspective on healthy aging in the city. This is done through surveys and workshops.
